Misterios Públicos: Las 10 iniciativas

The first Covenant of Cities to Fight Climate Change Pact of Mexico City, was signed by 138 mayors from 43 countries and considers the following points.

1. Voluntarily reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.

2. Adopt and implement local climate mitigation measures designed to meet voluntary targets for reducing emissions.

3. Developing local adaptation strategies to address the local impact of climate change.

4. Record commitments, measures and actions in a measurable weather, reportable and verifiable (CRV).

5. Promote the creation of mechanisms for direct access to international funding for local climate action.

6. Establish a secretariat of the Covenant of Mexico City to follow up on actions arising from this instrument with other local and regional authorities.

7. Promote the inclusion of civil society in the fight against climate change.

8. Advocate and seek partnerships with multilateral institutions and national governments to local climate action.

9. Promote partnerships and cooperation between cities.

10. Spread the message of the Covenant of Mexico City and in particular encourage and invite leaders of other local and sub to join our actions by climate change.
