Eco-Village: St.Mathieu Du Parc,QC.

Hello Russ,

Hoping you understand French if you prefer English, I can write in English but my message is likely to be less clear.

For nearly three years, a union worker, Residence Apex, they set up a project écocartier in the village of St - Mathieu- du- Park Québec . This cooperative, composed of 6 members , had developed an integration plan architectural that summarized the guidelines to be followed for the construction of houses. Among these, there was the requirement to build at least the framework of the cooperative . So , buying land, we had to build by the cooperative our house in accordance with a schedule of up to 8 years. Meanwhile, a solidarity cooperative , Green living, had to take care community development of the community. Projects such as a house intergenerational and a center for seniors were planned. However , after construction of the first two houses , conflict between the cooperative and citizens came forward regarding possible defects in construction. has taken out of proportion to the point that the media got involved and that legal proceedings are underway. Currently , the cooperative Apex to due declare bankruptcy and that a small group of 13 people have formed a company which is now in charge of land sales , management of community spaces and respect the development plan architectural which wants a sort of mission statement. The écocartier now has 7 single family homes , two families who have put their house up for sale / rent because of disputes over construction defects.

So here is a portrait brief of the project in St -Mathieu. Of the 60 lots originally planned , 30 are already sold and only 7 were occupied . There are nearly two dozen family is awaiting further developments. I am very concerned about the future of this project as though there is already a good glue community between residents today écocartier , the contribution of people who are not resident seems very difficult because there no place communication that can foster a sense of family non - resident. And this feeling is of course essential to their desire to get involved and eventually settle in the écocartier . So I decided to get to network and draw inspiration from other projects that work to help this project was seen as a beginning to say the least hesitation. Would you advice to reorient the project?
